Harry Flood Byrd, Sr., miscellaneous papers, 1952-1958.

The collection contains portions of [five?] speeches by Byrd on roads and fiscal restraint as well as the radio address, October 17, 1952, in which he famously concluded "I will not, and cannot, in good conscience, endorse the National Democratic platform or the Stevenson-Sparkman ticket." The collection also contains a 1957 clipping of an article on the biggest peacetime budget by Joseph E. Evans, Byrd's 1958 report on federal employment and pay, and a copy of a photograph, ca. 1958, of Senator Byrd with his son Harry F. Byrd, Jr.
